How to change snapchat username – First off: Don’t feel bad that you can’t directly change your snapchat username. But We have a solution for you that will help you change your username and you can keep the same email address for your account.
There isn’t a button on Snapchat that takes you to an editor where you can make the change, like there is on Twitter or other services. There is, however, a workaround that can help make the process slightly less painless. You’ll have to create an all new username, and you’ll want to do that before getting rid of your old username.
You can’t Directly change your snapchat username
Method 1: Make a New Snapchat Account
Once you think you’re completely done with your old account, you can delete it. Just remember that once you delete it, you won’t be able to access anything in it again. So make sure you view any new snaps you’ve received as tou won’t have access to them later.
Once that’s done, you can change your email address in Settings if you want to revert back to your previous email address.
It isn’t the most elegant solution but until Snapchat decides to let people change their handle, it’s currently the only option.
To make a new account, navigate to accounts.snapchat.com, click on Create Account, and fill in the form. Make sure you enter your new preferred username. When you’re ready, click Sign Up and Accept.
Method 2: Change Your Display Name
There is, however, a clever way to replace your username with a custom Display Name. Your username will remain the same, but it will hardly be visible to your friends. You can change your display name as often as you like, and it will be visible to both your existing contacts and any new users you add. To change your display name, follow the steps below:
- Tap the Gear icon in the top right-hand corner of the app.
- Choose My Account.
- Tap on Name.
- Enter your new preferred display name.
- Hit Save.
Here’s how to do it.
Access Your Snapchat Settings
Open Snapchat and tap the little ghost icon in the top left corner of the screen to go to your profile.
Tap the gear icon in the top right corner to go to your settings.
Add or Edit Your Display Name
The first two account settings you’ll see will be Name followed by Username. Notice that if you tap your username, you won’t be able to do anything with it except share it through a different app.
Tap Name. On the following tab, add or edit your First Name field and Last Name field. If you want, you can leave the Last Name field blank.
Tap the Save button that appears when you’ve made your changes.
Check Out Your Profile to See Your New Display Name
As long as you have something saved in the Name fields as shown in the last step, it will appear in all your friends’ chats and stories in place of your username.
The only time a friend might see your username is when they open a chat with you and tap the hamburger icon in the top left corner to pull up a small summary of your profile.
Once you’ve saved your Display Name, you can use the back arrows in the top left of the screen to navigate back to your profile and see that your new name appears beneath your snapcode.
