One of the main reasons you should visit extratorrent is that they have high quality torrents and very friendly website and a vibrant community.

You wont be disappointed!!. It is one of the largest bittorrent systems still online after the recent government-led hunt for illegal downloading of content. Like other torrent systems, it works on a p2p (peer to peer) file protocol that bases its usefulness on the number of peers as well as their willingness to ‘seed’ or share their files.

Extratorrent is one of the largest torrent sites. What is torrent

Torrent is a file extension for a BitTorrent file format used by BitTorrent clients. Torrent files contain text and point out the trackers for a download to begin downloading from distributors (known as seeders) and requesting clients (known as leachers).

BitTorrent is a content distribution protocol that enables efficient software distribution and peer-to-peer sharing of very large files, such as entire movies and TV shows, by enabling users to serve as network redistribution points. BitTorrent allows sharing of downloaded portions of a torrent that other users have not yet fully downloaded.

BitTorrent’s protocol has been described as a “swarming, scatter and gather” file transfer protocol. Rather than having to send a download to each customer requesting it, the seeder of content sends it to one requesting client (known as a leach) who, in turn, shares with other leaches who, if following etiquette, remain connected to seed the completed torrent to other leaches.

The BitTorrent distribution scheme spreads out the use of bandwidth across many points on the Internet, reducing the need for large servers.

Extratorrents design and structure

While ExtraTorrents has a rather simplistic design, its content is greatly spread through concise categories and subcategories. Perhaps the most interesting feature unlikely seen in other BitTorrent websites is the article section that provides the latest articles and news regarding all forms of technological trends and news. Beneath that is the most searched category, and while it is a useful tool in quickly finding popular torrents, it would be more useful to provide higher quality torrent qualities such as 720p or 1080p. Overall, a simplistic design suggests that the user can find content easily while the payload is low and requires almost no internet connection to load. However, the design could still carry the same payload if it were more polished around the edges, and perhaps a re-design of the box view lines would give the site a much more attractive appeal. These proxies are without ads and popups that plagues extratorrent.

What happened to extratorrent.cc

In 2016 Extratorrent has ironically started encrypting their content to prevent proxy sites to provide access to their content. This has made 90% of the proxy sites un usable though these proxies are working as usual. This is the only viable alternative currently for Kat which has been taken down by authorities.

Now extratorrent.cc has shutdown its service and no longer providing access to its site and this has brought down our hopes for torrent networks because all of the torrents network are shutting down their service month after month. But no worries our proxy and mirrors are working fine.

Extratorrents Seizure

Earlier this year UK police began working with rightsholders on a campaign to shut down file-sharing sites. Many site operators received warnings that their activities were breaching copyright law as well as the UK’s Serious Crime Act.

The actions yielded some success as a few smaller sites closed their doors. However, the major targets were unfazed by the police demands and continued business as usual.

This week the newly founded Intellectual Property Crime Unit (PIPCU) of the City of London Police stepped up its efforts and instead of targeting the site owners, they contacted their domain registrars. In a carefully worded letter the police warn that the sites in question may be copyright-infringing.

“The owners of the aforementioned domains are suspected to be involved in the criminal distribution of copyrighted material either directly or indirectly and are liable to prosecution under UK law for the following offences: Conspiracy to Defraud, Offences under the Fraud Act 2006, Copyright, Design & Patents Act 1988,” the letter states.

“Should a conviction be brought for the above offences, UK courts may impose sentences of imprisonment and/or fines. PIPCU has criminal and civil powers in UK law to seize money, belongings and any property in connection with these offences.”

There is no reference to an active court order that requires the registrar to take action, but the police unit instead points at the obligations the registrars have. Among other things, the letter lists a possible breach of ICANN policy and a violation of the registrars’ own Terms of Services as a validation for the suspension.
